Where oh where should I go on holiday in 2020?

New decade, new adventures. A holiday at a wow place to stay is sure to not only make unforgettable memories, but also inspire you to explore the UK even more.

2020 holidays in the UK

It’s official, staycations are on the rise and, without a doubt, are here to stay. And why wouldn’t they be? The UK has so much to offer (haven’t you seen the #MyMicrogap campaign?).

From beaches with golden sands and turquoise seas to rival the Caribbean to fascinating places steeped in history and from breath-taking landscapes to beautiful towns and villages and striking cities. For the adventurous, there are opportunities to surf, kayak, scuba dive and even ski, to name a few, and, for the foodies, delicious food and drink to sample – from Cornish pasties to seafood. There really is something for everyone; you can fill your boots with whatever – and however much or little – you fancy.

Staycations are perfect for short breaks, as you don’t need oodles of time off of work and the travel doesn’t need to take up a whole day, just a couple of hours drive away could do the trick. On that note, you can use your own transport too, thus saving time and money all around. Yay!

Also, no exchange rates + no baggage allowance + no passports + no language barrier (not to mention no jet leg) = so much less faff

All that, and you can take your faithful four-legged friend along with you – they’re part of the family, after all.

2020 (luxury) glamping holidays

Ok, so you’ve decided on a staycation. But how do you make that staycation extra (extra) special, unique and unforgettable? By going glamping! But not just any old glamping. Oh no. We’re talking luxury glamping.

Forget the ‘old’ concept of glamping – a bell tent with a mattress on the floor and bathing/toilet facilities a walk across a damp field away. Glamping has evolved and you’re going to love it. Think all the comfort, facilities, mod cons and luxuries you would get from a holiday cottage but in a unique structure in an equally, if not more, unique location. We’re talking shepherd’s huts with under-floor heating, safari tents with proper comfy beds, cabins with bubbling hot tubs, one-of-a-kind structures with unrivalled sea views. Sounds good, nay perfect, right? It is! Check out Classic Glamping for some holiday inspo.

A safari tent with sea views, hot tub and heating – now that’s luxury glamping! Mount View Luxury Glamping has two:

Romantic getaways for 2020

Whisk your loved one away – whether it’s a Valentine’s or anniversary surprise, babymoon, minimoon, honeymoon or just a well-needed break. In the cooler months, spend time cuddled around a toasty wood-burner inside or atmospheric fire-pit outside, blanket around you, toasting marshmallows and staring up at the starry night’s sky. In the warmer months, grab that book you have been meaning to read and sit out in the sunshine, glass of your favourite tipple in-hand. Get away from modern life and reconnect with one another, there’s nothing like it.

A really romantic wow place to stay – heavenly Hayley’s Hut, nestled away in a little copse of trees, in a private lakeside setting, with a bubbling hot tub:

Family 2020 holidays

It's a fact, kids love wide-open green spaces to run wild in and, at a glamping site, they can do exactly that, in safety and security. Get away from the screens and back to the things that matter – fly a kite, forage for hedgerow berries or build a campfire – family bonding is oh-so-important but more often than not modern life doesn’t allow us much of it. Luxury glamping is the answer! It allows you to do this but without letting go of home comforts and life’s luxuries which, let’s face it, is what we all want.

Barefoot Hobie, Woody and Rusty are simply perfect for a get-away-from-it-all family holiday, set in a peaceful seven-acre wildflower meadow, just a few minutes’ drive from two fabulous beaches:

Dog friendly 2020 holidays

Holidays just aren’t the same without the four-legged members of our family and the beauty of going on a holiday in the UK is that you can take them along with you. Plenty of wide-open spaces, lots of interesting smells to explore and quality time with their favourite people – it’s a pampered pooch’s dream. Whether you plan your holiday around them, choose a location near a moor or coastal path for ultimate exploring or they are simply joining you on your family holiday, taking them along is something that they will thank you for, for sure.

The deliciously delightful Duck’s Puddle Shepherd’s Hut is set near the foot of the Quantock Hills AONB – thus making it THE place to go with your dog, with walks a plenty on the doorstep and a fully enclosed garden (plus a hot tub, for those evening soaks under the stars after a long day exploring):

Summer 2020 holidays

We’ve been treated to some fantastic summer weather in the last few years, so why go to the expense of going abroad? Summer holidays in the UK are the way forward (sorry TUI)! As mentioned before, the UK – particularly the South West – has beaches to rival the Caribbean, as well as beautiful landscapes, and so so much to uncover and explore. And staycations save money in the long run, something we can all get behind!

Where better for a summer holiday in the UK than an absolutely gorgeous chalet quite literally on the beach! The Chalet on the Beach is just idyllic.

Hot tub holidays for 2020

Name a better way to enjoy a sundowner, we’ll wait. Hot tubs are epic. They’re a great way to relax, spend some quality time with a loved one, glass of fizz in-hand, gazing at a dreamy view or the starry sky above. No beeping phone, no to-do lists, no distractions, just tranquil bliss while you bubble away and feel the stresses and strains of modern life melt away. But they’re not just for romantic getaways – they can be a great feature for family holidays too, making for endless hours of fun and memories you will cherish for years to come.

Charming Curlew Shepherd's Hut is set in a hard-to-beat location, on the edge of the Camel Estuary with breathtaking views from the hot tub:

Sea view stays for 2020

It's said that the colour blue instils peace, tranquillity, calmness and serenity as well as helping to reduce anxiety, high blood pressure and heart rates – perhaps being the reason that we all love a sea view so much! Sit back with a glass of something, after blowing the cobwebs away on a coastal walk or a day out and about discovering new places, listening to the sea lapping at the shore and watching the sun set over the glistening blue – complete and utter bliss. There’s something so restorative and healing about the whole experience.

It's hard to beat Captain Blake’s Retreat’s sea view, we’ll let the picture do the talking:
